It’s going to be fun, fun, fun…what girl doesn’t love getting an amazing dress for a steal?

If you happen to be a romantic kind of a girl and see the new movie The Time Traveler’s Wife do take notice of the wedding dress that Rachel McAdams wears in it (of course you will take notice).  It is by Swoon designer Lea-Ann Belter and we will have the very dress shown in the movie in the store for our Lea-Ann Belter trunk show August 21 & 22.  As you will see, it is a stunning dress!

Sara Gabriel Trunk Show July 15-18

You have seen her stunning ads in all of the bridal magazines:  a girl with eyelashes that go on and on in a brilliant shade of red lipstick wearing an outrageously beautiful birdcage veil.  We are so excited to announce that we have added Sara Gabriel to the Swoon collection! 

Sara Gabriel’s accessories are perfectly Swoon-y.  Everything by Sara Gabriel is custom made and the collection is chic and totally fabulous.  We particularly love this collection because Sara takes such a fresh approach to wedding accessories.  Her pieces are statements.  They are artful, fashionable, feminine and so much fun to wear.

No matter what the outfit, a beautiful pair of shoes (even if you can’t completely see them) is critical to how you feel, how you walk, how you work that fabulous dress.  We know that it’s not the easiest task to find a great shoe that can be dyed.  Frankly, it can be a rather scary task given some of the options out there.  That is why we love the Benjamin Adams line.  The shoes are beautiful—made from duchess silk satin, stylish and the company will dye them for you for a small fee.  We just send Ben a fabric swatch of your dress or paint swatch of the perfect blue and, voila, you will have splendid little shoes in the exact color you desire.    

Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that Benjamin Adams is a British company.  One glance into Michelle’s personal shoe collection and it’s clear that we have a penchant for the Brits and what they can do with a shoe.

We have said it before and we will say it again:  The right accessories are essential when creating your look for your wedding day. 

And that is why we are dedicating a weekend to the art of accessorizing!

We will be hosting a Haute Bride trunk show Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.  We will be showing the accessories by appointment (because it takes time to get these details right). 

The Haute Bride collection is delightfully diverse and full of brilliant baubles that are distinctive and custom made.  Bracelets, necklaces, earrings, hair pins, flowers, brooches, tiaras…the trunk show will be like playing dress-up in the most amazing and fabulous jewelry box you can imagine. 

We have had such a strong demand from moms who missed our first Mother of the Occasion trunk show earlier this month that we are bringing the dresses back!

We will have the Modern Trousseau Mother of the Occasion dresses return to the store on Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22.  We will be closed all of Memorial Day weekend (Saturday-Monday), but the dresses will continue to be in the store Tuesday, May 26 through Thursday, May 27. 

The moms who attended the first trunk show raved about how flattering and stunning the dresses are, and we had a blast working with moms to help them find something that they feel fabulous in.

One of our favorite local boutiques is Shoe on California Avenue.  (They also have a second location at Northstar.)  The shoes are pieces of art (the best of kind of art:  wearable.)  We are very excited to announce that Shoe has brought in some bridal shoes for this season.  These “bridal shoes” are actually just really incredible white/ivory shoes.  It’s a great place to check out if you want a wedding shoe that is different…and wearable after the wedding.  It’s also a great resource for a knockout pair of shoes for the rehearsal dinner.

We have received a bunch of new bridesmaids dresses from the Spring 2009 Collections in the last few weeks at Swoon.  We wanted to share two of our favorite new arrivals because they are so cute we can hardly stand it. 

This first dress is a silk charmeuse number from Melissa Sweet.  The fabric is dreamy.  It's super soft and feels amazing against the skin.  We love the little flowers on this dress, the low back, and it has pockets!  It has a playful bubble hem, which is very much all the rage right now.  The shape is also conducive to being worn by many a different body shape. 

This second dress is by Jim Hjelm and is a sensational little party dress.  The neckline is great, the open back is so pretty, and the taffeta fabric is rich and crisp.  (It also has pockets.)  We love that it is a fresh look and has personality. 

Of course, both dresses come in a range of great colors.  We encourage you to get your girls swooning with a bridesmaids dress that is modern and fun.  The options for bridesmaids have never been better.
