Bridesmaids Dresses We Love...

We have received a bunch of new bridesmaids dresses from the Spring 2009 Collections in the last few weeks at Swoon.  We wanted to share two of our favorite new arrivals because they are so cute we can hardly stand it.

This first dress is a silk charmeuse number from Melissa Sweet.  The fabric is dreamy.  It's super soft and feels amazing against the skin.  We love the little flowers on this dress, the low back, and it has pockets!  It has a playful bubble hem, which is very much all the rage right now.  The shape is also conducive to being worn by many a different body shape.

This second dress is by Jim Hjelm and is a sensational little party dress.  The neckline is great, the open back is so pretty, and the taffeta fabric is rich and crisp.  (It also has pockets.)  We love that it is a fresh look and has personality.

Of course, both dresses come in a range of great colors.  We encourage you to get your girls swooning with a bridesmaids dress that is modern and fun.  The options for bridesmaids have never been better.

Swoon on the Plush Life!

Swoon was thrilled to make its TV debut on the Plush Life on Sunday!  The Plush Life is a new show that focuses on exploring “plush” living in Reno/Tahoe.  It’s full of fun and practical ideas and showcases local (love the LOCAL angle) businesses.

The Plush Life is hosted by matchmaker extraordinaire Jenifer Rose of It’s Just Lunch, the “Culinary Queen” Barbara Mills of Back of the House Cooking School (who, given her title, had to wear a Swoon tiara for the taping), and fashion consultant Isha Casagrande of Lipstick Consulting.

I guest hosted the wedding episode in place of Isha with Jenifer and Barbara at Swoon.

Jenifer and I wore Jenny Yoo bridesmaid dresses for the show.  Crew members kept commenting about how un-bridesmaidy the dresses we were wearing looked.  This is a testament to the fact that most of Swoon’s bridesmaid dresses are just really great party dresses.  We talked dresses, trends, and concluded the show by digging into a Joseph’s Vienna Bakery wedding cake (so good).

Here are a few good tips from the show:

Barbara will do bachelorette parties, wedding showers, and rehearsal dinners at Back of the House.  There is a ton of possibility there to do something unique and fabulous for wedding-related events.  (Plus Barbara is a total kick and you will want her at any party you are planning—she is so fun!)

Paper Moon is an incredible resource for wedding invitations (and Paper Moon is Swoon’s neighbor!).  Laura, the delightful and creative proprietress of Paper Moon, brought over some examples of invitations they have done for the taping and they are pretty beautiful.  They are able to help if you are making your own invites (they carry Paper-Source paper which is great stuff) or if you want to have a custom invitation created for you.

The Plush Life featured Reno Photo Booth as a favor idea.  We love this idea!  It’s fun, adds another layer of activity to the reception, and gives your guests something that they will not throw away that really marks the joy of your day.  We also, of course, love the old-fashioned feel about it.  It’s sweet and playful and the pictures are bound to be hilarious.

You can check them out at www.renophotoboothcompany.com.

It was a ton of fun to showcase Swoon on TV and talk weddings with so many talented Reno people with their own niches.
